Build-A-Brain BOX is a monthly (or bimonthly) hands-on, build-it-yourself toy with real educational value. Each box explores a unique concept through an engaging project, allowing kids to build a themed toy that brings the idea to life. It’s a fun, creative way to combine learning, play, and imagination.
Every box is carefully dreamed up, designed, and crafted by our in-house team right here in South Africa.
Build-A-Brain BOX is designed for children ages 5–13, depending on their individual skills and interests. That said, many older kids, teens, and even adults enjoy building and exploring the projects too!
We offer two flexible subscription plans:
- Monthly Plan – Pay a monthly subscription and receive 12 Build-A-Brain BOXES, delivered once a month for a full year.
- Bimonthly Plan – Pay a lower monthly subscription and receive 6 boxes, delivered every second month over the year.
All subscriptions include convenient automatic monthly billing.
You can choose between monthly or bimonthly delivery. Boxes are shipped between the middle and end of each delivery month.
Delivery timing depends on when you place your order and your chosen plan:
Monthly Plan – We’ll aim to deliver your first box by the end of the current month, but it may arrive by the end of the following month.
Orders placed before the 10th of the month:
Monthly Plan – Your first box will arrive by the end of that same month.
Bimonthly Plan – Your first box will arrive by the end of the following (second) month.
Orders placed after the 10th of the month:
Monthly Plan – We’ll aim to deliver your first box by the end of the current month, but it may arrive by the end of the following month.
No—each Build-A-Brain BOX is uniquely curated as part of a carefully designed sequence, so you won’t receive the same box twice during your subscription.

Each box includes all the components needed to complete the project, along with easy-to-follow instructions
Typically, a box takes about 60-90 minutes to complete. Keep in mind that it isn’t a race! Our focus is on sparked curiosity and hands-on learning, so we love it when kids take time to explore, experiment, and enjoy every step.
Younger children may need some guidance, especially with more advanced builds. Older kids can often complete projects independently.
Yes, you can pause your subscription at any time through your account settings. Each subscription allows up to two pauses within a subscription cycle.
When you pause your subscription, billing is temporarily suspended, and you won’t be charged during the paused period. Your subscription will automatically resume once the pause ends, so you can continue enjoying the service without needing to re-subscribe.
Yes, absolutely! Our subscription boxes make the perfect gift for curious kids. To send one, just enter the child’s address as the Shipping Address at checkout. You can also leave a special message in the Order Notes field, and we will include it in their first box!
We currently ship across South Africa and open to discussions to ship globally.
Build-A-Brain subscription box shipping are included and for all other products shipping costs are calculated at checkout
Yes, you’ll receive tracking details via email as soon as your box is on its way.

No problem—while every box is checked and checked again before shipping, just contact us on support@buildAbrain.co.za with the part number and we’ll replace any missing or faulty components subject to terms and conditions.
A small screw driver set is required to assemble some of the Build-A-Brain BOXES. We recommend purchasing the Build-A-Brain tool set which includes all you need. Everything else is included in the box.

To update your card or payment method:
- Log in to your account
- Select Subscription
- Click View on the subscription where you wish to change the payment details.
- Click Change Payment. Only available for active subscriptions
- Scroll down and click Change payment method. You will be redirected to the PayFast portal to securly enter your new card details.
- Enter your new card details and save changes
- You will receive a email notification of a R0.00 transaction and a cancelation of the previous payment
To update your delivery and/or billing address:
- Log in to your account
- Select Addresses
- Click Edit Billing address or Edit Shipping address
- Update details
- Click Save address.
To request a invoice:
- Log in to your account
- Click Invoice on the selected order to view
